1 DAY LECTURE/WORKSHOP
OFFERED ONCE:
August 13, 2010 (CRS# 00.742-021)
TUITION: $625
OVERVIEW
Polymer-based coatings are used in a very wide range of industrial,
electronic, medical applications and in a great variety of consumer goods.
There are many monomers, oligomers and polymers used in coatings. A variety
of coating methods are used as well as methods to cure them. In general,
coatings can be protective, decorative and functional. This seminar is
exploring the chemistry, rheology, coating methods, application and testing
of high-performance coatings.
CONTENT
- Types of polymeric coatings
- Rheology of coatings
- Chemistries involved in the high-performance coatings
- Coating methods (liquids, powders, melts)
- Curing methods for high-performance polymeric coatings
- Testing of high-performance polymeric coatings
- Applications
- Troubleshooting
- Safety and hygiene
- Recent development
Intended for application engineers, researchers, technologists, middle
management, technical service engineers and for all those interested in this
subject. Prerequisite is knowledge of basic chemistry, and physics. Some
experience and/or understanding of polymer science and technology would be
helpful.
